What was Hitler’s character as a leader?

First of all, Hitler rose to power by political means and machinations, and when he had consolidated his influence enough, he used force to mount the remaining steps to absolute control of Germany. He was a dictator and he rules by force. Although he was an awful man, people still followed him as he was a strong extremist patriot, and this is what Germany thought they needed. They thought that Germany was going to fail under the Weimar government and they needed a strong dictator to get them back on their feet. People were also afraid of him, as they knew what he and the Nazi party could do to them. The Germans followed Hitler because he was promising what they wanted, after the treaty of Versailles, their economy was terrible. Hitler promised to take them out of their depression and he kept his promise, making Germany a power house. Although he was mad, he was brilliant. The League of Nations had imposed such overwhelming sanctions against Germany following WWI that the German people were already suffering financially at the beginning of the Great Depression, and then things got worse. Promising to make things better, Hitler found a group of people on whom he could blame all of the problems (the Jews) and told everyone that he was locking them up for the good of the nation. The image of Hitler as a meddler in military operations is powerful and persistent. He was also stubborn, distrusted his generals and relied too much on his own
instinct. Hitler was, first and foremost, determined to command personally. At each level, the superior was to give the orders the subordinates to follow them to the letter. As time went on he took over positions that gave him ever more direct control.

Hitler was also known as a “passionate lunatic” who did his best for the rebuilding of Germany. Besides that, Hitler was also known as a strong leader to rule over the German territory. His abusive father also caused him to become a cold, hard person who was very focused on whatever he was doing. Some of the Germans also considered him a true dictator. When he sees the opportunity, he acts swiftly, forcibly. He uses frenzy and temper tantrums as a weapon. However, this does not prevent him from thinking, pondering, estimating chances. His political instinct is very real and will inspire him and bring him success more than once in the management of the war. Not only that, Hitler was also a charismatic leader. He was capable in convincing others that he would bring back political and economical stability in Germany.

Hitler was also a talented speaker. He had strong self-confidence and that made him able to speak very well in front of the public. People were often awed by his speeches as though Hitler used his magic charm to make the Germans believed him so much. In addition to that, Hitler’s voice had a unique tone and he spoke with great spirit of confidence. Hitler was therefore known as a great leader of Germany.
